Gold-standard evidence-based treatment for police, first responders and veterans with psychological injuries
Monica Heafey Psychology provides gold-standard evidence-based treatment for police, first responders and veterans with psychological injuries. The practice runs a comprehensive prevention and early intervention treatment program aimed at reducing the likelihood of psychological injury for those on the frontline. We encourage our clients to be “first through the door” to access education and treatment to improve their wellbeing.
Monica Heafey is passionate about working with police, first responders, and veterans. She is warm and grounded, with a good sense of humour and brings both a direct and caring approach to her work.
Monica cares about helping her clients heal, grow and access their own resources and capability to live their lives with purpose. She is particularly interested in the development of treatment programs and interventions aimed at the prevention of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and psychological injury for first responders and veterans.
Monica is trained in gold standard evidence-based treatment for a range of presentations, particularly PTSD. She uses Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), and trauma-focused cognitive behavioural therapy (TF-CBT) to support her clients to understand and process their experiences. She encourages her clients to learn about themselves in order to facilitate their personal growth and connections with others. Monica prioritises her relationship with her clients and understands the importance of safety, reliability and authenticity in working with first responders and veterans.
